OSHKOSH, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire began their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual competition on Wednesday as they traveled to UW-Oshkosh for their annual Chancellor's Cup rivalry match. With four pinfalls on the night, the Blugolds swept the Titans 49-0 to keep hold of the trophy for the fourth straight season.
Finn Bloomquist kicked things off at 149 pounds with a major decision victory and four team points, improving to 4-2 on the season.
Landon Church jumped into his first match of the season and was victorious at 157 pounds with a 19-3 tech-fall in 4:29.
Jon Harvey helped UWEC take a 12-0 lead with a 12-7 decision at 165 pounds to earn his first win of the season. The first of fours pinfalls on the night came from
Preston Carlisle as he recorded his first win of the season.
Ryder Depies extended the Blugold lead to 23-0 with an 18-3 tech-fall at the 5:51 mark.
The final five matches of the night were dominated by UW-Eau Claire as
Ian Pepple (3:41),
Travis Moelter (1:27), and
Wyatt Unser (3:27) all recorded pins to earn their first wins of the season.
Cole Matulenko added an 11-3 major decision victory and
Calvin Singewald added a 10-0 shutout to seal the 49-0 WIAC win.
The Blugolds (1-0, WIAC 1-0) will head back on the road on Saturday, November 15 when they travel to Iowa for a nonconfernce dual with Luther College. First matches of the day are scheduled to being at 9 a.m.
