Box Score 2 ORLANDO, Fla. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team split a pair of duals on Tuesday, defeating William Smith College 5-2 before falling to No. 23 Denison 6-1. The Blugolds picked up their first win of their Florida trip in the William Smith dual before seeing their upset bid thwarted against highly ranked Denison.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blugolds dropped two of three doubles matches against William Smith, but won five of six singles matches to clinch the dual.
- Samantha Fuchs (Sr. - DeForest, Wis.) won the No. 1 singles match 7-5, 6-4. Anna Lee (Jr. - Buffalo, Minn.) added a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles. Liv Herzog (Jr. - Owatonna, Minn.) prevailed 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4, Reese Burton (Fr. - Lakeville, Minn./South) won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 and Beatriz Felchak (Fr. - Curitiba, Brazil) won 7-5, 7-6 (4) at No. 6
- Denison won all three doubles matches to open up that dual.
- Aubrey Wittwer (Fr. - Delano, Minn.) picked up the only singles win for the Blugolds against Denison, prevailing 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 6 flight.
