MINNEAPOLIS — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming teams finished off the Minnesota First Chance Meet on a high note on Saturday at Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. The Blugolds' men's and women's 400-yard freestyle relays both took first place to highlight another strong day in the pool.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The women's 400 freestyle relay team of Danika Zablocki (So. - De Pere, Wis.), Olivia Richetto (Sr. - Wausau, Wis./East), Faith Oswald (Fr. - Eau Claire, Wis.) and Maddie Grahn (So. - Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest) finished first in a time of 3:40.54.
- The men's 400 freestyle relay team of Amos Crafts (Fr. - Portland, Ore./Franklin), Kenny Cabeen (So. - Austin, Minn.), Jack MacLeod (So. - Lakeville, Minn./North) and William Taylor (Sr. - Albert Lea, Minn.) made it a sweep for the Blugold men and women. They placed first in 3:11.59.
- Kadin Denner (Sr. - Aurora, Colo./Cherokee Trail) earned a second-place finish in the men's 1,650-yard freestyle. He finished in 16:25.13. Owen Yeager (So. - Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) placed fifth in the event.
- Grace Mullikin (Fr. - Holmen, Wis.) placed fourth in the women's 200-yard butterfly, clocking in at 2:21.45.
- Matt Craig (Sr. - Lakeville, Minn./South) placed sixth in the men's 200-yard butterfly, posting a 2:05.33.
UP NEXT
The postseason begins with the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships from February 19-22. The meet will be held at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, with UW-Eau Claire serving as the host.
