MINNEAPOLIS — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming teams opened up the Minnesota First Chance Meet on Friday at Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. The Blugolds' relays had strong nights to highlight the first day of action in the pool.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The women's 400-yard medley relay team of Danika Zablocki (So. - De Pere, Wis.), Abigail Ellingsberg (Sr. - Moorhead, Minn.), Faith Oswald (Fr. - Eau Claire, Wis.) and Olivia Richetto (Sr. - Wausau, Wis./East) had the best finish of the day for the Blugolds. They took second place with a time of 4:07.23.
• The men's 400-yard medley relay team of Jack MacLeod (So. - Lakeville, Minn./North), Axel Erickson (Fr. - Fort Collins, Colo.), Matt Craig (Sr. - Lakeville, Minn./South) and Kenny Cabeen (So. - Austin, Minn.) placed third with a time of 3:42.06.
• Individually, Oswald placed fifth in the women's 100-yard butterfly.
• MacLeod took eighth in the men's 200-yard individual medley.
• William Taylor (Sr. - Albert Lea, Minn.) was eighth in the men's 500-yard freestyle.
