EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team bested Northland College 10-0 in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) tilt on Wednesday at Hobbs Ice Arena. The Blugolds scored six times in the first period and never looked back in the victory over the LumberJills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Eau Claire (16-7-0, 8-2-0) scored four times within the first 10 minutes of the game. They did all of their scoring in the first two periods and came two goals shy of tying the program's scoring record.
- Quinn Hartmetz (Sr. - Phoenixville, Pa./Gilmour Academy) and Madisyn Krumholz (So. - Burnsville, Minn.) scored two goals apiece to lead the way. Hartmetz struck in the first and second periods, while Krumholz found the back of the net twice in the second.
- Maddie Hulter (So. - Fergus Falls, Minn.) and Kylie Wiltse (So. - Maplewood, Minn./Roseville) had two assists each for the Blugolds.
- Six Blugolds scored single goals: Lauren Ballinger (Fr. - Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View), Ava Johansson (So. - Rogers, Minn.), Adrienne Hansen (Fr. - Monticello, Minn.), Kenzie Keller (So. - Mankato, Minn./Mankato East), Keira Bolt (Jr. - Boise, Idaho/Renaissance) and Ellie Andersen (Sr. - Fergus Falls, Minn.).
- Eight different Blugolds notched at least one assist.
- Alexa Backmann (So. - Rogers, Minn.) made two saves in net to record the shutout victory.
- The Blugolds outshot the LumberJills 42-2.
