RIVER FALLS, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis began Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Saturday with a pair of matches against UW-River Falls and UW-Stout. The Blugolds came out strong in both matchups and swept the competition 9-0 and 9-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Samantha Fuchs (Sr. - DeForest, Wis.) and Anna Lee (Sr. - Buffalo, Minn.) won both their doubles matches against the No. 1 seeds from UW-River Falls and UW-Stout, winning the first match 8-5 and the second 8-0. Reese Burton (Fr. - Lakeville, Minn.) and Beatriz Felchak (Fr. - Curitiba, Brazil) also played in both doubles matches beating all four of their opponents 8-1.
- Each of the Blugolds' singles players secured their victories in straight sets, conceding only two games combined across all six matches.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Blugolds will remain on the road for their next match on Saturday, September 14 at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at the Warhawk Outdoor Tennis Complex.
