LA CROSSE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team was on the road Sunday for a neutral site contest against the 4
th ranked Christopher Newport Captains on the campus of UW-La Crosse. The Blugolds defense was kept busy during the 90 minutes of play they faced 23 shots in the 4-0 defeat.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Eau Claire kept things tight in the first half allowing just one goal on 11 shots by Christopher Newport. The Captains first tally in the 14th minute would be the lone goal in the first 45 minutes of play.
- Without a shot in the first half, the Blugolds found opportunities in the second half as Hayley Von Rentzell (Jr. – Chanhassen, Minn.) and Anna Lorezana (So. – Farmington, Minn.) found the Blugolds' only two shots on the day.
- Christopher Newport kept their pressure in the second half and added to their lead in the 53rd, 56th, and 59th minutes to hand UWEC their 6th loss of the season.
- Kennedy Boll (Sr. – Franklin, Wis.) stopped four of the ten shots she faced in her 60 minutes of play. Bella Jones (So. – Neenah, Wis.) stopped all five shots she faced in the last 30 minutes she played.
