WHITEWATER, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team tied UW-Whitewater 1-1 in its Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener on Saturday at Robert Fiskum Field. The Blugolds took an early lead, but the Warhawks answered in the second half to ensure the two sides would share the spoils.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Molly Henderson (Sr. – Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) put the Blugolds in front with her fourth goal of the season in the 22nd minute. She scored off assists by Bella Jones (So. – Neenah, Wis.) and Emma Donovan (Fr. – Hazel Green, Wis./Wahlert Catholic).
- The Blugolds led 1-0 at halftime, but the Warhawks struck in the 67th minute to tie the game. Neither side was able to score again.
- Jones made seven saves in net to help UW-Eau Claire earn the point on the road.
- The Blugolds outshot the Warhawks by a 15-12 margin.

The Blugolds continue WIAC play with another road game on Wednesday, October 9 at UW-Stevens Point. They've won their previous two meetings with the Pointers and will look for a third straight victory in the series. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
