EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team concluded the 11
th annual Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament presented by BSN Sports on Saturday with their one lone game against St. Catherine University. Despite dropping the opening set, the Blugolds stormed back with a consistent attack to defeat the Wildcats, 3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mya Cinnamo (So. – Rosemount, Minn.) led the attack on the evening with 16 kills and added 18 digs for third double-double of the season. Cinnamo also led the team with three service aces that all came in the opening set as UWEC battled from an 18-21 deficit.
- After dropping set 1, Eau Claire was consistent with their attack, hitting above 31% in their three sets wins. Hanne Johnson (Jr. – Grantsburg, Wis.) and Darienne Andre (Jr. – Lakeville, Minn.) combined for 25 kills to help power the Blugold offense to their 6th straight victory.
- Defensively, Kaitlyn Erickson (Fr. – Champlin, Minn.) grabbed 25 digs during the four sets and limited reception errors to two of the 22 serves she received.
- The dynamic setting duo of Ella Kiebel (Jr. – Maple Lake, Minn.) and Hannah Thole (Fr. – West Des Moines, Iowa) combined for 53 assists during 3-1 victory to help keep the offense in check.

The Blugolds (8-3-0) will begin Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Wednesday, September 18
th with a trip to UW-Stevens Point. First serve from Shirley Egner Court at Berg Gym is scheduled for 7 p.m.
