NAPERVILLE, Ill. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team was back on the road Friday as they began play in the North Central Invitational hosted by North Central College. UW-Eau Claire squared off with nonconference opponent Albion College and played to a 1-1 draw.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Elise Pinewski (Sr. – Anoka, Wis.) got the Blugolds on the board first in the 13th minute with her first goal of the season. Pinewski added two shots on goal during her 45 minutes of play as Eau Claire out shot Albion 10-2 during the afternoon contest.
- Johanna Thompson (Fr. – Green Bay, Wis.) spearheaded the Blugold attack with a team leading three shots on goal. Kori Millis (Sr. – Shakopee, Minn.) and Emma Donovan (Fr. – Hazel Green, Wis./Wahlert Catholic) added to the Blugold offense with two shots on goal each.
- Kennedy Boll (Sr. – Franklin, Wis.) and Bella Jones (So. – Neenah, Wis.) each played one half as Jones made the lone save of the afternoon. Boll was credited with the draw and is now 2-2-1 on the year.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Blugolds (2-2-1) will stay in Illinois for their second game of the North Central Invitational on Saturday, September 14
th when they take on the hosts, North Central. Kick off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
