ROCHESTER, Minn. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team fell to St. Olaf 5-4 in a nailbiter on Saturday at Rochester Tennis Connection. The dual was ultimately decided after a long tiebreak in singles play, giving the Oles the victory.
The Blugolds won three singles matches and one doubles match.
Anna Lee (So. - Buffalo, Minn.) won the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 7-6 (5).
Liv Herzog (So. - Owatonna, Minn.) won the No. 5 match 6-3, 6-1.
Téa Armstrong (Jr. - Blue Earth, Minn.) prevailed 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. The No. 4 singles match finished with an 11-9 tiebreak in favor of St. Olaf, which ultimately clinched the dual.
Lee and
Samantha Fuchs (Jr. - DeForest, Wis.) teamed up to win the No. 1 doubles match 8-3.
The Blugolds are now off until their trip to Florida for spring break. UW-Eau Claire will play five duals in the Orlando area. First up is a dual against Oglethorpe on Monday, March 18.
