ORLANDO, Fla. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team rallied from a three-match deficit to defeat Luther College 5-4 on Thursday at the USTA National Campus. The Blugolds trailed 4-1 after five matches, but won the next four to seal the victory.
UW-Eau Claire got four wins in singles.
Samantha Fuchs (Jr. - DeForest, Wis.) prevailed 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1.
Anna Lee (So. - Buffalo, Minn.) won 7-6 (6), 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Liv Herzog (So. - Owatonna, Minn.) won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5, and
Téa Armstrong (Jr. - Blue Earth, Minn./Blue Earth Area) won 6-1, 7-6 (3) at No. 6.
Fuchs and Lee teamed up to win 8-2 at No. 1 doubles for the Blugolds' only victory on the doubles courts.
The Blugolds will conclude their spring break trip to Florida with a dual at Saint Leo University on Friday, March 22. Saint Leo is ranked No. 7 in Division II. The scheduled start time is 3 p.m. Eastern.
