Football announces 2024 schedule

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football team has announced its schedule for the 2024 season. With five home games and five road games, UW-Eau Claire football will look to hit the ground running during head coach Rob Erickson's second year on campus.

Opening weekend, Saturday, September 7, will see the Blugolds on the road as they travel to northwest Minnesota to take on the Cobbers of Concordia-Moorhead. UWEC captured the program's only win over the Cobbers last year on a last-second field goal, giving the Blugolds a 31-28 victory and a 1-0 start to the season.

Eau Claire will host the Coe College Kohawks during their home opener on Saturday, September 14. Last year's matchup was the only meeting between the two teams and UW-Eau Claire will look to even the series in front of a packed stadium at Carson Park in week two. The following week, UWEC will wrap up its nonconference schedule with a trip to St. Paul, Minnesota, to face off with Bethel University on Saturday, September 21. Both Coe College and Bethel University were part of the 64-team NCAA Tournament in 2023 and both teams suffered first-round exits.

After their bye week on Saturday, September 28, the Blugolds will begin Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play away from home as they travel west to UW-River Falls on Saturday, October 5. The remainder of the Blugolds' WIAC road schedule features the 102nd edition of the "War on 94" series with UW-Stout on Saturday, October 26 and a matchup with the 2023 Isthmus Bowl champions, UW-Platteville, on Saturday, November 9.

UW-Eau Claire will celebrate Homecoming on Saturday, October 12 as UW-Stevens Point comes to town. The Blugolds will enter the game on a three-game winning streak against the Pointers after outscoring UWSP 14-0 in the final quarter a year ago to secure the 24-17 victory on the road. The Blugolds will finish the year with two of their last three home games against NCAA playoff teams, starting with last year's NCAA quarterfinalists, UW-La Crosse on Saturday, October 19 at Carson Park. The UW-Oshkosh Titans will come to Carson Park on Saturday, November 2 and another 2023 NCAA quarterfinalist program, UW-Whitewater, will close out the regular season with UW-Eau Claire on Saturday, November 16 at Carson Park.
