EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team doubled up UW-Superior 4-2 on Saturday at Hobbs Ice Arena. The 13th-ranked Blugolds never trailed against the Yellowjackets and moved to 4-1-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Eau Claire (7-3-0, 4-1-0) scored twice in the first eight minutes of the game to seize control. McKenna Sandberg (So. – Saint Michael, Minn./Rogers) got the Blugolds off to a flying start, scoring just over three minutes into the contest.
- Ava Bullert (Jr. – North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View) made it 2-0 in favor of UW-Eau Claire with just under 12 minutes left in the first period. UW-Superior responded later in the period with a goal of its own, but the Blugolds led 2-1 entering the first intermission.
- Kara Burke (So. – Chicago, Ill./Evanston Township) scored just over six minutes into the second period to re-establish a two-goal advantage for UW-Eau Claire. The Yellowjackets scored just over a minute later, but Lauren Ballinger (Fr. – Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) iced the game away with a power play goal early in the third period.
- Maddie Hulter (So. – Fergus Falls, Minn.) had a pair of assists for the Blugolds.
- Tegan Swanson (Fr. – Eden Prairie, Minn.) made 18 stops in goal.

The Blugolds will carry a three-game win streak into a home game against Bethel (Minn.) on Wednesday, December 11. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hobbs Ice Arena.
