EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team blanked Northland College 6-0 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Friday at Hobbs Ice Arena. The Blugolds held the Lumberjacks to 10 shots in their second shutout of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Eau Claire (3-5-1, 2-1-0) scored twice in the first period and sealed the win with four more goals in the third.
- Nolan Grier (Fr. - Fond du Lac, Wis.) opened the scoring with a power play goal early in the first period. Carter Bradley (Fr. - St. Louis, Mo./Oakville) doubled the Blugolds' lead about five minutes later.
- The score remained 2-0 entering the third period before the Blugolds pulled away. Jordan Randall (Sr. - Maple Grove, Minn.) made it 3-0 with 12 minutes left, starting a stretch of less than eight minutes that saw UW-Eau Claire score four times. Leo Bacallao (Jr. - Madison, Wis./Memorial) scored on a power play four minutes after Randall, and Cade Lemmer (Jr. - Tomahawk, Wis./Wausau West) added another power play goal with less than five minutes left. Tyler Herzberg (So. - Germantown, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) capped the scoring with four minutes to go.
- Danny Reis (Fr. - Waunakee, Wis.) and Max Ruoho (Jr. - Madison, Wis./Memorial) tallied two assists apiece.
- Josh Langford (Jr. - Frisco, Texas/Reedy) earned his first win of the season in net, making 10 saves.
