EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team ran its win streak to four with a 73-58 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday at the Sonnentag Event Center. A huge third quarter gave the Blugolds the boost they needed to pull away from the Warriors.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A back-and-forth first half saw the Blugolds (4-5) race out to a huge lead early before Wisconsin Lutheran stormed back. A 12-0 run midway through the first quarter gave the Blugolds a 13-point lead, but the Warriors closed the period with a 14-3 swing of their own to cut the deficit to two entering the second quarter.
  • Neither side led by more than four in the second quarter. The Blugolds carried a 33-32 advantage into the locker room.
  • The pivotal swing came in the third quarter, where UW-Eau Claire outscored Wisconsin Lutheran 27-10. The Blugolds unleashed a 20-3 run to build a 17-point lead. They led by 18 entering the fourth quarter.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran pulled within nine in the fourth quarter, but couldn't get any closer.
  • Kyla Overskei (Jr. - Maple Lake, Minn.) recorded her second double-double of the season, tallying 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the team.
