ST. PAUL, Minn. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's basketball team pushed its win streak to six with a 76-58 victory over the University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Wednesday at the Ericksen Center. The Blugolds raced out to a 20-point lead by halftime and never looked back to take down the Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Eau Claire (7-3) pulled away at the end of the first half and Northwestern never recovered. The Blugolds closed the opening half on a 19-2 run.
- UW-Eau Claire held Northwestern scoreless across the final 4:50 of the first half. At the other end of the floor, Michael Casper (Sr. - Merrill, Wis.) and Carter Huschka (Sr. - Farmington, Minn.) teamed up for 14 points in the 19-2 run to give the Blugolds a 46-26 lead at the break. It broke open what had been a three-point game with six minutes until halftime.
- The Blugolds led by at least 16 points for the entire second half.
- Huschka tallied his second double-double of the season to lead UW-Eau Claire. He had 22 points, 14 rebounds and five assists — all game highs.
- Carter Lichtsinn (Jr. - Olathe, Kan./Olathe West) added 13 points. Casper and Andre Renta (Jr. - Hudson, Wis.) scored eight apiece.
- The Blugolds shot 48% in the win. They dominated on the glass too, out-rebounding the Eagles 44-32.

The Blugolds will look for a seventh consecutive win when they host Carleton College to close out nonconference play on December 30. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Sonnentag Event Center.
