EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team skated to a scoreless tie against Bethel (Minn.) on Saturday at Hobbs Ice Arena. After a scoreless overtime period, the Blugolds went on to win the ensuing shootout 2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Max Gutjahr (Jr. - Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) stopped all 28 shots he faced across regulation and overtime to earn his first shutout of the season. He also made three stops in the shootout.
- Max Dronen (Fr. - Moorhead, Minn.) and Kade Peterson (So. - West Fargo, N.D./Northstar Christian Academy) both made their penalty shots to give the Blugolds their shootout victory.
- UW-Eau Claire (0-1-1) killed three Bethel power plays. The Royals held a 28-23 advantage in shots, but neither side was able to break through.

The Blugolds will seek their first victory of the season when they visit Concordia College (Minn.) on Friday, November 15. The puck drops at 5 p.m. in Moorhead, Minnesota.
