NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team rallied past St. Olaf 2-1 on Friday night to pick up its first victory of the season. The eighth-ranked Blugolds fell behind early in the first period, but scored in the second and third to get in the win column.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Oles struck early, scoring in the first two minutes of the game to stake an early lead.
- UW-Eau Claire (1-1-0) had an answer late in the second period. Ava Bullert (Jr. - North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View) struck off a pass from Jess Eykyn (Fr. - Mankato, Minn./Mankato East) to level the score with just under three minutes left until the second intermission.
- Quinn Hartmetz (Sr. - Phoenixville, Pa./Gilmour Academy) scored the game-winner in the late stages of the third period. She scored off assists from Rachel Mirwald (Jr. - Verona, Wis.) and Maddie Hulter (So. - Fergus Falls, Minn.).
- Tegan Swanson (Fr. - Eden Prairie, Minn.) earned her first career victory in goal. She played the full 60 minutes and made 11 saves to pick up the win.
- The Blugolds outshot the Oles 30-12. Both teams went 2 for 2 on penalty kills.

The two-game series between the Blugolds and Oles will conclude with a rematch on Saturday, November 9, at Hobbs Ice Arena. Puck drop is at 2 p.m.
