DE PERE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team dropped the opener of a two-game series to No. 2 St. Norbert College 5-1 on Friday at Cornerstone Community Center. The Green Knights scored the first five goals of the game to take the series opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Green Knights (10-0-0) scored three times in the opening period, including a goal with two seconds left on the clock.
- Neither team scored in the second period, so St. Norbert carried a 3-0 lead into the second intermission.
- The Green Knights put the game away with two more goals early in the third period.
- Nolan Grier (Fr. - Fond du Lac, Wis.) scored the lone goal for the Blugolds midway through the third. Carter Green (Jr. - Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) and Connor Szmul (Sr. - Castle Rock, Colo./Castle View) assisted.
- Max Gutjahr (Jr. - Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) made 22 saves against the second-ranked Green Knights.

The series resumes on Saturday, November 30, in Eau Claire. The Blugolds (2-4-1) host the Green Knights at 7 p.m. at Hobbs Ice Arena.
