EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat No. 2 Gustavus Adolphus College 4-3 on Tuesday at Hobbs Ice Arena. The Blugolds scored four straight goals to secure a thrilling victory over the Golden Gusties.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gustavus Adolphus took a 2-0 lead early in the first period, but the Blugolds quickly answered with a goal from Ava Bullert (Jr. – North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View) to cut the deficit to 2-1 entering the first intermission. Samantha Bandholz (Sr. - Richfield, Wis./Slinger) and Kylie Wiltse (So. - Maplewood, Minn./Roseville) assisted.
- Wiltse tied the game at 2-2 with a second-period goal off a power play, assisted by Bullert and Ashley Wagenbach (Fr. - Lakeville, Minn./North). Madisyn Krumholz (So. – Burnsville, Minn.) put UW-Eau Claire ahead with a goal with just over seven minutes left in the second period, making it 3-2 off an assist from Maddie Hulter (So. - Fergus Falls, Minn.).
- Sadie Long (Sr. – Farmington, Minn.) sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, giving the Blugolds a 4-2 lead. Gustavus would score once more, but UW-Eau Claire held on for the 4-3 win.
- Tegan Swanson (Fr. - Eden Prairie, Minn.) made 18 saves for the Blugolds.
- It was UW-Eau Claire's first win over a team ranked in the top five since February of 2023, when the Blugolds beat top-ranked UW-River Falls.

The Blugolds will hit the road to face UW-Stevens Point on Thursday, December 5. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at K.B. Willett Arena.
