MADISON, Wis. — Several members of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football team were featured in the 2024 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) honors.
Isaac Garside (Sr. - Bonduel, Wis.) was named to the All-WIAC first team offense as a wide receiver, and
Brady Puls (Fr. - Lodi, Wis.) was tabbed the WIAC Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year.
Garside picked up first team all-conference honors for the first time. He became UW-Eau Claire's all-time leader in career receptions and receiving yards, finishing his Blugold career with 195 receptions for 2,386 yards. He led the WIAC with 74 receptions this season and ranked second with 941 receiving yards. He tied for third-most touchdown receptions with eight.
Puls became the first player from UW-Eau Claire to be named the WIAC Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year. He led the Blugolds with 3.5 tackles for a loss and tied for sixth on the team with 34 total tackles. He played all 10 games as a freshman, starting every WIAC contest. The award is given to the top newcomer in the league, defined as a student-athlete who used his first season of participation this season.
The Blugolds had several players receive honorable mentions.
Gunnar Hurlburt (Jr. - Durand, Wis.) was an honorable mention on the offensive line after helping anchor UW-Eau Claire in the trenches this season. Quarterback
Harry Roubidoux (Sr. - Winneconne, Wis.) also earned honorable mention status on offense. He finishes his time as a Blugold as the school's career leader in completions (683) and pass attempts (1,232), and ranks second in UW-Eau Claire history with 55 career touchdown passes and 7,684 passing yards. He ranked third in the WIAC with 2,549 passing yards and 18 touchdowns this season.
On the defensive side of the ball,
Brady Hoffner (Jr. - Mankato, Minn./Mankato East) and
Caden Tonsager (So. - Eagan, Minn.) were honorable mentions for the Blugolds. Hoffner had a team-high 67 total tackles this season and also led the squad with two sacks. He also nabbed an interception and forced two fumbles. Tonsager led the secondary with six pass break-ups and also had an interception returned for a touchdown. He ranked fourth on the team with 43 tackles.
Trey Fitzgerald (Sr. - Mosinee, Wis.) was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team. Fitzgerald served as a captain for the Blugolds this season.
