WINONA, Minn. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team fell to St. Mary's University (Minn.) 3-0 on Tuesday at SMU Ice Arena. The 10th-ranked Blugolds outshot the Cardinals, but couldn't get anything past the Cardinals goaltender and were shut out for the first time this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- St. Mary's scored twice in the first period, taking the lead midway through before adding a second tally off a power play toward the end of the period.
- The Cardinals added an insurance goal in the second period.
- UW-Eau Claire held a 19-16 advantage in shots.
- The Blugolds had a pair of power plays, but the Cardinals successfully thwarted both.
- Tegan Swanson (Fr. - Eden Prairie, Minn.) made 13 saves in goal for UW-Eau Claire.
