SUPERIOR, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team picked up a 5-3 victory over UW-Superior on Saturday, improving to 4-1-0 in overall play. The Blugolds scored five goals to secure the win and move to 2-0-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blugolds got on the board first, with Sadie Long (Sr. - Farmington, Minn.) scoring in the opening period to give Eau Claire a 1-0 lead.
- The game turned in the second period, as the Blugolds exploded for four goals to take control of the game. Quinn Hartmetz (Sr. - Phoenixville, Pa.) netted Eau Claire's second goal, putting the Blugolds ahead 2-1. Seven minutes into the period, Madisyn Krumholz (So. - Burnsville, Minn.) extended the lead to 3-1. McKenna Sandberg (So. - Saint Michael, Minn.) then added another goal to make it 4-1, before Samantha Bandholz (Sr. - Richfield, Wis./Slinger) sealed the win with a fifth goal late in the period.
- Eight different Blugolds tallied assists in the win.
- Tegan Swanson (Fr. - Eden Prairie, Minn.) made 15 saves in net to earn the victory.

The Blugolds will travel to Winona, Minnesota, on Tuesday, November 19, to face No. 15 Saint Mary's University at 7 p.m.
