EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team fell to No. 11 Gustavus Adolphus College 73-49 on Sunday at the Sonnentag Event Center. A big second quarter for the Golden Gusties pushed the momentum in their direction, and the Blugolds couldn't rally in the second half in their finale at the Market & Johnson Blugold Tip-Off Tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blugolds (0-2) got 13 points from Lauren Meudt (Jr. - Waunakee, Wis.), a new career high. Jessilyn Ernst (So. - Pardeeville, Wis.) added eight points and a career-best nine rebounds.
- The game was tied at 13 after the first quarter, but the Golden Gusties outscored UW-Eau Claire 27-16 in the second quarter. The 11th-ranked Gusties made six 3-pointers in the period and rode a 13-3 run late in the quarter to pull ahead. Gustavus led 40-29 at halftime.
- Gustavus started the second half with an 11-2 run to go ahead by 20 points, and the Blugolds couldn't climb out of the hole. The deficit remained in double figures the rest of the game.
- UW-Eau Claire shot 33% from the field and 28% from 3-point range. Gustavus shot 47% overall and forced the Blugolds into 24 turnovers.

The Blugolds will hit the road for their first away game of the season on Saturday, November 16. They visit Central College in Pella, Iowa, with a 1 p.m. tip-off time.
