INDIANOLA, Iowa (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team tied Simpson College 2-2 on Sunday at Bill Buxton Stadium. The 13th-ranked Blugolds held two leads in the contest, but the Storm were able to answer each time to ensure the game would end in a tie.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nathan Donovan (Sr. - Hazel Green, Wis./Wahlert Catholic) opened the Blugolds' account by converting a penalty kick into the opening goal in the 28th minute. It was his 16th goal of the campaign and fifth from the penalty spot.
- Simpson evened the score with a goal of its own in the 42nd minute, but UW-Eau Claire again went in front when Carson Kowalski (Jr. - Mundelein, Ill.) scored in the 56th minute. Noah Malcook (So. - Fitchburg, Wis./Oregon) and Tate McDermott (Fr. - Grimes, Iowa/Dallas Center-Grimes) assisted.
- The Storm tied the game for good with the game's final goal in the 75th minute.
- The Blugolds (9-1-3) held a 12-7 advantage in shots and led 5-4 in shots on target.
- The draw ran UW-Eau Claire's unbeaten streak to four games.
