ALTOONA, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team wrapped up the dual portion of its Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) campaign with an 8-1 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday at 10th Street Park. With the win, the Blugolds finished 5-1 in conference duals this fall and are atop the regular season dual standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-Eau Claire won all six singles matches while only dropping one set. The win featured 6-0, 6-0 victories by Reese Burton (Fr. - Lakeville, Minn./South) and Morgan Dekan (Sr. - Altoona, Wis.) in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches. Anna Lee (Jr. - Buffalo, Minn.) won a third set to capture the No. 2 match 6-4, 2-6, 1-0.
- The Blugolds also captured wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Samantha Fuchs (Sr. - DeForest, Wis.) and Lee teamed up to win 8-2 at No. 1, and Liv Herzog (Jr. - Owatonna, Minn.) and Dekan joined forces to win by the same scoreline at No. 3.
UP NEXT
The Blugolds will prep for the WIAC Championships, which will be held on October 26-27 at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison. The Blugolds are seeking their first conference championship since the 2002-03 season.
