ALTOONA, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team swept a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual against UW-Stevens Point 9-0 on Friday at 10th Street Park. The Blugolds won each match to improve to 4-1 in conference duals this fall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blugolds won all six singles matches without dropping a set. Samantha Fuchs (Sr. - DeForest, Wis.) prevailed 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 flight. Liv Herzog (Jr. - Owatonna, Minn.) and Reese Burton (Fr. - Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) both won their matches while only dropping three games in total.
- UW-Eau Claire had no troubles in doubles play either, winning 24 games to UW-Stevens Point's three. Fuchs and Anna Lee (Jr. - Buffalo, Minn.) won the No. 1 match 8-0.
- The Blugolds now have a chance to finish atop the conference regular season standings or earn a tie at the top with their final dual of the conference slate. Both Eau Claire and UW-La Crosse are 4-1 on the season with one dual left.
WHAT'S NEXT
The team's final dual of the fall will be against UW-Oshkosh on Saturday, October 5 at 10th Street Park in Altoona. Play begins at 2 p.m.
