MADISON, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team placed third at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship on Sunday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The Blugolds accrued 16 points in the overall conference standings, which factored in regular-season dual performances and conference tournament performances.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- All of the Blugolds' competitors placed in the top four of their respective flights. Samantha Fuchs (Sr. - DeForest, Wis.) and Anna Lee (Jr. - Buffalo, Minn.) were the Blugolds' top finishers, taking second place at No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles, respectively. Fuchs also earned a spot on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
- Liv Herzog (Jr. - Owatonna, Minn.) took third place at No. 4 singles. Reese Burton (Fr. - Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) placed third at No. 5 singles, and Téa Armstrong (Sr. - Blue Earth, Minn.) took third at No. 6 singles. All three won their third-place matches in straight sets.
- Fuchs and Lee teamed up to take third place at No. 1 doubles, winning the third-place match 8-1. Armstrong and Aubrey Wittwer (Fr. - Delano, Minn.) took third place at No. 3 doubles with an 8-1 win.
- Morgan Dekan (Sr. - Altoona, Wis.) took fourth at No. 3 singles and she and her doubles partner Herzog also took fourth at No. 2 doubles.
- UW-Eau Claire finished four points behind WIAC champion UW-Whitewater in the overall standings.

The Blugolds will return to the court in the spring, with their first dual scheduled for February 8, 2025.
