EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team dropped a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) contest to UW-La Crosse 3-0 on Saturday at Simpson Field. The Blugolds also honored nine seniors on Senior Day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles, who received votes in the most recent United Soccer Coaches national poll, scored twice in the first half and once in the second. UW-La Crosse went ahead with a goal in the 15th minute and doubled its lead nine minutes later. The Eagles closed the scoring in the 63rd minute.
- Kennedy Boll (Sr. – Franklin, Wis.) made eight saves in goal for the Blugolds.
- The Eagles outshot the Blugolds 18-7.
- The defeat was UW-Eau Claire's first in WIAC play this season. The Blugolds have nine points in conference play and remain in contention for a WIAC Tournament spot.
- The Blugolds recognized seniors Paige Crawford (Sr. – Elk River, Minn.), Kori Millis (Sr. – Shakopee, Minn.), Elise Pinewski (Sr. – Anoka, Minn.), Josie Ellingson (Sr. – Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview), Grace Prairie (Sr. – Blaine, Minn./Centennial), Molly Henderson (Sr. – Duluth, Minn./Duluth East), Boll, Sophie Hubbard (Sr. – De Pere, Wis.) and Vanessa Grunwald (Sr. – Suamico, Wis./Pulaski) during a Senior Day ceremony.
