EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (www.blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis was jumped back into Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Wednesday with a trip to UW-La Crosse to face the Eagles. With two of the top teams in the conference battling it out on the court, UW-Eau Claire powered through and found the edge over UWL, 5-4, for their third WIAC victory of the fall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Samantha Fuchs (Sr. - DeForest, Wis.)Â and Anna Lee (Sr. - Buffalo, Minn.) both went 2-0 on the day as the ppair fo Blugolds won their singles matches and took home a 8-4 victory in #1 doubles. Liv Herzog (Jr. - Owatonna, Minn.) also went 2-0 on the day with a win at #5 singles and victory at #3 doubles.
- Morgan Dekan (Sr. - Altoona, Wis.) helped secure that #3 doubles win with Herzog as the Blugolds went into the singles matches with a 2-1 lead.
- UWEC handed UWL their first loss of the season and currently sit in second place with a 3-1 WIAC record.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Blugolds will return home for more WIAC play this weekend with a pair of home matches against UW-Stevens Point and UW-Oshkosh on October 4th and 5th. Both matches will be hosted at the 10th Street Park in Altoona, Wis. Friday's match against the Pointers is scheduled for 3 p.m. and Saturday's match against the Titans is scheduled for 2 p.m.
