OSHKOSH, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team remained unbeaten in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play with a 1-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday at Titan Stadium. It was a second consecutive shutout for the Blugolds, who sit in second place in the conference standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- On a night where defensive efforts generally prevailed, the Blugolds (6-6-4, 2-0-3) found the critical breakthrough in the second half to pick up three points.
- Kennedy Boll (Sr. - Franklin, Wis.) made the defensive play of the night, saving a Titans penalty in the 56th minute. She dove to her right and parried the ball away before collecting the rebound to keep the game scoreless.
- Anna Lorenzana (So. - Farmington, Minn.) scored the game's only goal. Caroline Curran (Fr. - Lakeville, Minn./South) timed a flick-on perfectly at the top of the box and found Lorenzana unmarked. The sophomore midfielder hit the bouncing ball on a volley to put the Blugolds ahead in the 61st minute.
- The Blugolds held a 17-5 advantage in shots and 7-2 in shots on goal.
- Boll finished with two saves in 45 minutes of action. Bella Jones (So. - Neenah, Wis.) played the first half to help the Blugolds post the clean sheet.
