COLFAX, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's cross country team competed at the Blugold Invitational on Friday, September 29th. On their home course at Whitetail Golf Course, the Blugolds took sixth out of 30 teams in the varsity race, scoring 211 points. In the open race, the Blugolds took sixth
out of 16 teams, scoring 186 points.
In the varsity race,
Mason Shea (Sr. – River Falls, Wis.) was first in for the Blugolds, placing 15
th overall in a time of 25:31.7. Following behind Shea was
Jesse Peterson (Jr. – St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) placing 23
rd overall in a time of 25:47.3. Rounding out the Blugold top five in the varsity race were
Trevor LaMirande (Sr. - Dresser, Wis./St. Croix Falls) running a time of 25:53.8,
Blake Vander Weide (Jr. – Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) with a time of 26:35.3, and
Ian Barnes (So. – Cary, Ill./Cary Grove) with a time of 26:40.5.
In the open race,
Joey Thaler (Sr. – Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell Central) was first in for the Blugolds placing 25
th overall and running a time of 27:31.1.
Nate Bilben (So. – Silver Bay, Minn./William Kelley) was next in for the Blugolds placing 44
th overall in a time of 28:00.3
The Blugold men will take the next week to recover and continue training before gearing up to race at the Augustana Interregional Invite October 14
th.
