EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team defeated UW-La Crosse 7-2 in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual on Wednesday at South Middle School. The Blugolds swept all three doubles matches and took four of six singles matches.
Clare Palen (Sr. - Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) and
Samantha Fuchs (Jr. - DeForest, Wis.) teamed up at No. 1 doubles to win 8-4.
Morgan Dekan (Jr. - Altoona, Wis.) and
Sydney Presler (Sr. - Eau Claire, Wis./Altoona) won the No. 2 doubles match 8-4. The duo of
Anna Lee (So. - Buffalo, Minn.) and
Liv Herzog (So. - Owatonna, Minn.) won 8-6 in No. 3 doubles.
Palen was victorious 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Fuchs won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Lee prevailed 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 in No. 3 singles, and Presler won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 4.
The Blugolds improved to 3-1 in duals this season. They host Winona State for an exhibition on Sept. 29 before traveling to UW-Stevens Point on a dual on Oct. 6.
