EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team cruised to a third straight shutout with a 2-0 victory over Macalester on Thursday at Simpson Field. The Blugolds scored once in each half, which was more than enough offense to see out the win.
The Blugolds were the first on the scoreboard, scoring the opener in the late stages of the first half.
Sabrina Pickart (So. – Oskhosh, Wis./Oshkosh West) and
Taylor Czarapata (Fr. – Muskego, Wis.) linked up down the right wing, and Czarapata sent a cross in for
Ava Johnson (So. – Elk River, Minn.). Johnson knocked the ball past the Scots' goalkeeper to get UW-Eau Claire on the board in the 36
th minute.
UW-Eau Claire doubled its lead off a corner kick in the 74
th minute.
Megan Hansen (Sr. – Andover, Minn.) sent in the corner, and
Sophie Hubbard (Sr. – De Pere, Wis.) headed it home to make it a 2-0 game.
Bella Jones (Fr. – Neenah, Wis.) and
Kennedy Boll (Jr. – Franklin, Wis.) teamed up in net to give the Blugolds their third consecutive shutout. Jones kept the Scots off the scoreboard in the first half, and Boll did the same after halftime. Both keepers made three saves.
The win pushed UW-Eau Claire's unbeaten streak to five games. The Blugolds are off to a 5-1-2 start this season.

Thursday's game was the first of four consecutive contests at home for UW-Eau Claire. The Blugolds will be back at home on Wednesday, Sept. 27, against Simpson College. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
