NORTHFIELD, Minn. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's cross country team competed at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday. The Blugolds took second out of eight teams, scoring 57 points. St. Olaf won the meet with a team score of 23.
Mason Shea (Sr. – River Falls, Wis.) was first in for the Blugolds, placing fourth overall in a time of 25:31.5. Next in was
Jesse Peterson (Jr. – St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) placing 10th overall in a time of 25:43.3. Rounding out the top five was
Trevor LaMirande (Sr. – Dresser, Wis./St. Croix Falls) placing 12
th in a time of 25:59.6,
Ian Barnes (So. – Cary, Ill./Cary Grove) placing 19
th in a time of 26:17.6, and
Cooper Feltz (So. – Germantown, Wis.) placing 20
th in a time of 26:18.1.
"The men did a great job executing their plan of racing relaxed early, together in the middle, and finishing strong," UW-Eau Claire head coach

Ian Barnes and
Cooper Feltz put in over the summer was on full display, both cracking our top five and both running 90-plus seconds faster than last year at St. Olaf. This was a nice confidence builder heading into our home Blugold Invite in two weeks."
The Blugold men will be back in action Friday, Sept. 29, at the Blugold Invite in Colfax, Wisconsin. The open race starts at 3 p.m., with the varsity race to follow at 4:30 p.m.
