EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team earned a second consecutive sweep to start Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play by defeating UW-Stout 9-0 on Sunday at Eau Claire Memorial High School. The Blugolds only dropped six games across nine matches.
Clare Palen (Sr. - Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) took the No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-0.
Anna Lee (So. - Buffalo, Minn.) won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Samantha Fuchs (Jr. - DeForest, Wis.) was victorious at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0.
Liv Herzog (So. - Owatonna, Minn.) won at No. 4, 6-0, 6-1.
Sydney Presler (Sr. - Eau Claire, Wis./Altoona) swept the No. 5 match 6-0, 6-0, and
Téa Armstrong (Jr. - Blue Earth, Minn./Blue Earth Area) won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.
In doubles play, Fuchs and Palen took the No. 1 match 8-1. Lee and Herzog prevailed 8-0 at No. 2, and Presler and
Morgan Dekan (Jr. - Altoona, Wis.) took the No. 3 match 8-0.
The Blugolds will host UW-Whitewater in their next competition, a dual on Saturday, Sept. 16. Matches will be played at Eau Claire North High School beginning at 1 p.m.
