CARLISLE, Pa. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's
Mason Shea (Sr. – River Falls, Wis.) represented the Blugold men's cross country squad at the NCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday, November 18
. Shea ran an exceptional race, placing 39th overall in a time of 25:09.5. Shea earned All-American honors by placing in the top 40, becoming the first Blugold men's All-American since 2019.
This was Shea's third appearance at the NCAA Division III National Championship, improving his placement by over 69 spots from last year.
"Yesterday we chatted on our game plan of being patient and slowing moving up due to a challenging course, and he executed it perfectly today," Blugolds coach
Dan Schwamberger said. "Mason finished really strong, and I was so proud to watch everything come together for him."
Shea became the first All-American for the men's program since 2019, when Connor Dolan also placed 39th. Shea is the 13th runner in men's program history to earn All-America status.
