STEVENS POINT, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team swept UW-Stevens Point 9-0 on Sunday in its final Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual of the fall.
The Blugolds won every match, including some thrilling battles in the singles flights.
Samantha Fuchs (Jr. - DeForest, Wis.) won the No. 1 singles match 6-0, 1-6, 10-3.
Morgan Dekan (Jr. - Altoona, Wis.) rallied from an early deficit to win the No. 3 singles match 0-6, 6-4, 15-13.
Anna Lee (So. - Buffalo, Minn.),
Sydney Presler (Sr. - Eau Claire, Wis./Altoona),
Liv Herzog (So. - Owatonna, Minn.) and
Téa Armstrong (Jr. - Blue Earth, Minn.) all swept their singles matches in straight sets.
Fuchs and
Clare Palen (Sr. - Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Dekan and Presler took the No. 2 match 8-5, and Lee and Herzog won at No. 3 8-2.
The Blugolds will wrap up their fall campaign at the WIAC Championship on Oct. 21-22 in Madison, Wis. The tournament is hosted at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
