OSHKOSH, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team defeated UW-Oshkosh 8-1 in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual on Saturday. The Blugolds swept the singles matches and took two of three doubles matches to defeat the Titans.
UW-Eau Claire won five of the six singles matches without dropping a set. That included a 6-0, 6-0 victory for
Liv Herzog (So. - Owatonna, Minn.) in the No. 5 match.
Samantha Fuchs (Jr. - DeForest, Wis.) prevailed 6-2, 6-0 in No. 1 singles.
Anna Lee (So. - Buffalo, Minn.) won at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-2.
Morgan Dekan (Jr. - Altoona, Wis.) took the No. 3 singles match 1-6, 6-3, 1-0.
Sydney Presler (Sr. - Eau Claire, Wis./Altoona) won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Téa Armstrong (Jr. - Blue Earth, Minn./Blue Earth Area) took the No. 6 singles match 6-4, 6-2.
The Blugolds also won the No. 1 and No. 2 matches in doubles. Fuchs and
Clare Palen (Sr. - Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) won 8-2 at No. 1, and Dekan and Presler prevailed 8-5 at No. 2.
UW-Eau Claire will compete in its final dual of the fall during a visit to UW-Stevens Point on Sunday, Oct. 8. Match time is 3:30 p.m.
