PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team fell in a road Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) game at UW-Platteville on Saturday, 1-0.
The Pioneers scored in the 30th minute off a header from a throw-in, and held on from there to clinch a victory. It was the first WIAC defeat of the season for the Blugolds.
UW-Eau Claire sent six shots at the Pioneers' goal, two of which hit the target. Six different players took a single shot each. The Blugolds controlled 59% of the possession, but ultimately couldn't turn it into an equalizing goal.
Kennedy Boll (Jr. - Franklin, Wis.) made five saves in net for the Blugolds.
The Blugolds will return home on Saturday, Oct. 14, to host UW-Oshkosh in a WIAC contest at Simpson Field. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m., and the team will host Youth Day.
