EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team scored three goals in the opening seven minutes and defeated UW-Stevens Point 4-1 on Wednesday at Simpson Field. The early flurry gave the Blugolds their first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) victory of the season.
Kori Millis (Jr. - Shakopee, Minn.) scored twice in the space of three minutes to start the game, both off assists from
Megan Hansen (Sr. - Andover, Minn./Anoka). Hansen provided the crosses, and Millis promptly slotted them home to put the Blugolds up 2-0 by the fourth minute.
Sophie Hubbard (Sr. - De Pere, Wis.) made it a three-goal lead for the Blugolds in the seventh minute. She headed home a cross from
Savannah Swopes (So. - Janesville, Wis./Milton) for her second goal of the season.
UW-Stevens Point drew a goal back in the 30th minute, but never got any closer.
Elise Pinewski (Jr. - Anoka, Minn.) capped the victory by tapping a cross from
Alena Tikalsky (So. - Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) into the back of the net in the 71st minute.
Kennedy Boll (Jr. - Franklin, Wis.) made one save while goalkeeping in the first half, and
Bella Jones (Fr. - Neenah, Wis.) made three stops in the second half.
