EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept a dual against UW-Stevens Point on Saturday at the McPhee Center. The Blugold men won 182-118 and the Blugold women prevailed 207-93.
"Swimming and diving against a competitive team like Stevens Point always brings out the best in our team and forces us to get up and race hard and for the athletes to do it as a team," Blugolds head coach
Annie Ryder said. "It was truly a team victory on both sides. Every swim and dive mattered today and our kids rose to the occasion. We are looking forward to more fast racing and good diving over the next few weeks."
The Blugold men won all but three individual swimming events and won all but one relay.
Zhander Rowley (So. - Janesville, Wis./Parker),
Kadin Denner (Jr. - Aurora, Colo.) and
Ben Keller (Sr. - Cedarburg, Wis.) all won two individual events each.
Ben Koller (Sr. - Savage, Minn./Shakopee) won the three-meter diving competition.
The Blugold women won all but two swimming events.
Kiara Bissen (Jr. - Madison, Wis./Memorial),
Elaina Plonis (Jr. - Michigan) and
Ella Weaver (Sr. - McFarland, Wis.) all won multiple individual events.
Ella Josephs (Fr. - Plymouth, Wis.) won the three-meter diving competition.
UW-Eau Claire is now 2-0 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) duals. The Blugolds will look to continue their momentum with a dual at UW-La Crosse on Saturday, Nov. 4. The competition begins at 1 p.m.
