EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team controlled the action from start to finish in a 3-0 victory over Bethel University on Tuesday at Simpson Field. The Blugolds scored once in the first half and two in the second half to cruise to victory.
Taylor Czarapata (Fr. – Muskego, Wis.) started the scoring by earning her first career goal in the fifth minute. She sent in a long shot from the corner of the penalty area after taking a pass from
Megan Hansen (Sr. – Andover, Minn./Anoka) and got it past the outstretched hand of the Royals' keeper.
Elise Pinewski (Jr. – Anoka, Minn.) doubled the Blugolds' advantage with a goal early in the second half, her fifth of the season. It started a quick flurry for UW-Eau Claire, who got another goal when Pinewski found
Molly Henderson (Jr. – Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) off a free kick. Henderson broke free in the middle of the box and knocked the ball past a diving Royals keeper to make it 3-0 in the 58
th minute.
Two Blugold keepers combined for a shutout in net.
Bella Jones (Fr. – Neenah, Wis.) played the first 71 minutes, and
Ella Swanson (Fr. – Lakeview, Minn./Eastview) went the rest of the way. Jones made eight saves and Swanson made one.
UW-Eau Claire (8-3-3, 2-1-1) will be in action again on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 11
th-ranked UW-La Crosse. Game time is 5 p.m. in La Crosse.
