Box Score EAU CLAIRE, WI (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team was back at home on Tuesday for their third home game in a row. After scoring three goals in the opening 15 minutes, the Blugolds cruised past the St. Scholastica Saints, 5-0, for their third win of the year.

Eau Claire wasted no time finding the back of the net as Ethan Andersen (Jr. – Burnsville, MN) tallied his first goal as a Blugold in the sixth minute to give UWEC a 1-0 lead. Will Heinen (So. – Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) was quick to find his first goal of the year just eight minutes later after a shot from Nathan Donovan (So. – Hazel Green, WI/Wahlert Catholic) deflected off Heinen and into the goal for a 2-0 advantage.
Just moments later, Donovan received a through ball from Ethan Andersen on the right side of the field and skyrocketed a chip up and over the St. Scholastica goalkeeper to extend the lead to 3-0. Nathan Donovan currently leads all Blugolds with seven points (3G, 2A) in just three games.
In the second half, Eau Claire continued a strong offensive presence as Max Lynch (Fr. – Verona, WI) cleaned up a throw in from Jacob Sampson (So. – McFarland, WI) for the fourth Eau Claire goal of the evening. The momentum was one-sided all night as the Blugolds finished the evening with 17 shots on goal and allowed only shot against them through 90 minutes of play.
Charlie Rogers (So. – Mendota Heights, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) scored the final goal for UWEC in the 81st after a beautiful connection with Trevor Tomoda (So. – Appleton, WI/North) and Veeti Penttinen (Helsinki, Finland/Lautasaaren yhteiskoulu) placed the ball perfectly on the foot of Rogers for his first goal as a Blugold.
Spencer Banks (So. – Superior, WI) gathered the win with the only save of the night coming in the first half. Banks now stands at 3-0 on the season.
The Blugolds (3-0) take to the road on Thursday, September 8th for a matchup with Northland College. Kickoff from Ashland, WI is set to begin at 7PM.
