Box Score EAU CLAIRE, WI (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team completed their four game homestand on Sunday as they hosted the Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) Cobbers at Simpson Field. While it was the team's fifth game in seven days, the Blugolds were firing on all cylinders to secure their ninth consecutive win, 3-0.

After a comeback victory the day before, UW-Eau Claire wasted no time gaining a lead that never wavered to the Cobbers. Sam Lynch (Jr. – Verona, WI) tallied the first goal for Eau Claire yet again on a header for his fourth goal of the year. Lynch's corner kick goal in the 10th minute held a lone assist from Carter Thiesfeld (So. – Forest Lake, MN).
Eight minutes later, Nathan Donovan (So. – Hazel Green, WI/Wahlert Catholic) would extend the lead with a left footed shot past the Cobber goalkeeper to make it 2-0. Donovan currently leads UWEC with eight goals on the season. Scott Hanson (Fr. – Woodbury, MN) and Jacob Sampson (So. – McFarland, WI) recorded assists on the second goal of the afternoon.
In the second half, a handball was called inside the Concordia penalty area and UWEC was awarded a penalty kick in the 74th minute. Tom Puglisi (Jr. – Woodbury, MN) would step up to the spot and slot the ball home right down the middle for the 3-0 lead and final goal of the game.
The Blugold defense held strong all game long as Concordia never found an opportunity to find the back of the net with zero shots on goal. Spencer Banks (So. – Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) and Mark Belknap (So. – Anoka, MN) combined for the team's fifth shutout of the year. Banks received credit for the win and is now 8-0 on the year.
The Blugolds (9-0) have another quick turn around as they set to travel to Ripon College on Tuesday, September 20th. Kickoff from Prairie Field is scheduled for 4:30PM.
