Women's Tennis Sweeps Falcons In Third WIAC Win

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team was back on the road Sunday for their fourth Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match of the year. With a 2-1 record in conference play, the Blugolds would continue their dominant play and claim a 9-0 victory over UW-River Falls.

Results

Lindsey Henderson (Jr. – Prior Lake, MN) and Elaine Franta (So. – White Bear Lake, MN) got the ball rolling for Eau Claire with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Henderson and Franta would each continue their success later in the day during their singles matches. Henderson won at the No. 1 spot, 6-4, 6-4 and Franta swiftly finished 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot.

Emily Cooper (Sr. – White Bear, MN) and Alexa Brooks (Beaver Dam, WI) added to the Blugold momentum with wins of their own. After an 8-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles, the pair went on to win each of their singles matches in quick succession.

Morgan Nelson (Fr. – Beaver Dam, WI) was the other athlete to finish the day 2-0. An 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles with partner Natalie Girard (Jr. – Kenosha, WI/St. Joseph) was followed by a 6-1, 6-1 No. 5 spot win against the Falcons' Delaney Osmond.

The women will be back in action on Tuesday, April 19th when they travel to UW-Stout. First serve is scheduled for 4 pm.
