WHITEWATER, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis traveled east on Saturday to begin Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play against UW-Whitewater. Despite having two matches going to a tiebreaker decision, the Blugolds would drop all 9 matchups to the Warhawks for a 0-9 defeat.
Lindsey Henderson (Jr. - Prior Lake, MN) and Elaine Franta (So. - White Bear Lake, MN) started off strong for Eau Claire by forcing a tiebreker game at No. 1 doubles, but would drop the final game for a 8-7 result. Henderson would continue to battle on the court for another tiebreaker of her own at No. 2 singles. She would drop the decision 7-3 for a 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 loss.
Morgan Nelson (Fr. - Beaver Dam, WI) earned herself a chance a victory in the second set, but was defeated in her own tiebreaker for the 7-6, 8-6 defeat. Sydney Presler (So. - Eau Claire, WI/Altoona) was close to gaining a point for Eau Claire with a 6-1 win in her first set, but she fell in the final two for an individual loss.
The Blugolds are back at home on Sunday, April 11 when they host UW-La Crosse in another WIAC matchup. First serve is scheduled for 1pm. No spectators are allowed in the John and Fay Menard Facility during the Blugold's spring season.
