WINONA, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – A hot UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team (12-4) that had won five of their six meets since the beginning of March traveled to Winona, Minn on Friday to take on Luther (Iowa).

Though the team would fall 3-6, the doubles teams managed to post victories in two of three matches.

The number one doubles team of Maddie Johnson (Sr.-Lakeville, MN) and Madison Rossebo (Sr.-Minnetonka, MN) claimed a commanding 8-1 victory, while the number three doubles team of Renee Nelson (Sr.-Madison, WI/La Follette) and Paige Kuepers (Jr.-Green Bay, WI/Southwest) won a contested 8-6 match.

Sarah Henderson (Fr.-Prior Lake, MN) managed to score some redemption with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at number four singles after falling in number two doubles earlier in the day.

Eau Claire will return to action on Sunday, when they will face off against St. Scholastica (Minn.) and River Falls at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.
