Box Score EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team won its second consecutive game with an 83-71 win over UW-Stout at Zorn Arena tonight.
The Blugolds improve to 6-3 on the season and 2-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The Blue Devils fall to 3-6 overall and 0-4 in the WIAC.
Stout went up early on Eau Claire, jumping out to an 11-point lead (17-6) just over five minutes in to the game. The Blugolds then went on a 21-8 run over six minutes to take their first lead of the game. The Blugolds took a seven-point advantage into halftime.
The Blugolds came out in the second half and pushed their lead to 12 points before Stout had a 21-8 run to take the lead back. The lead would be short-lived, however, as it lasted less than a minute and a half.
Eau Claire took the lead for good with six minutes to go in the game and outshot the Blue Devils 19-7 over the final five minutes to win by 12.
The Blugolds came up with 18 points off 17 Stout turnovers while the Blue Devils had just eight from 10 Blugold turnovers. The Blugolds outshot Stout 48.4 percent (30-for-62) to 47.4 percent (27-for-57) but the Blue Devils edged Eau Claire in rebounds, 34-33.
Amadou Fofana (Jr.-Appleton, Wis./West) had a career night as he came up with 23 points. He also pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for the double-double.
Leading the game in scoring was Geoff Probst (Sr.-Moose Lake, Minn.), who finished with 24 points. Marcus Ruh (Fr.-Green Bay , Wis./Bay Port) also added 14 for Eau Claire.
Jerrel Enerson-Matthews led the Blue Devils with 21 points while three others were in double-figures. Mahlon Thomas pulled down eight rebounds to lead Stout.
The Blugolds will now be off for more than two weeks. They will next play when they host the UW-Eau Claire Holiday Classic, Dec. 29-30 in Zorn Arena. Action will get underway both nights at 6 p.m.
